With the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG), you receive support for renovating buildings that permanently save energy costs and thus protect the climate. This funding program supports the initial installation or replacement of external sun protection devices with optimized daylight supply.

BEG individual measures – which sun protection measures are eligible for funding?
Regional specialist partners guarantee professional installation, expert advice, and short-term maintenance of your sun protection product. A clear advantage for you—but also for the environment. Subsidies are available for the initial installation or replacement of external sun protection systems with optimized daylight supply in existing buildings. Motorized external sun protection meets the requirements for optimized daylight supply, as it can be moved and thus optimizes the amount of sunlight entering the building to meet the necessary requirements. Equipping the system with a sun sensor can be advantageous. *(at least five years old)

What funding rates are available for individual measures?
For individual measures on the building envelope, the subsidy rate is 15 percent. The minimum eligible investment volume for external sun protection is €2,000 (gross). For “individual measures” (subprogram BEG EM), the maximum eligible costs for residential buildings are €60,000 per residential unit.

What is the application process?
An energy consultant must be involved in applications for individual measures relating to the building envelope. This ensures that planning errors are avoided. In addition, the consultant draws up a “technical project description” (TPB) explaining the measure to be applied for before the (actual) application can be submitted. The responsible Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) provides an electronic form for this purpose. Important: The application must be submitted before the measure begins!

What evidence is required?

  • Confirmation from an energy consultant of your choice from the list of energy efficiency experts (www.energie-effizienz-experten.de)
  • Manufacturer’s certification for the product feature “external sun protection device with optimized daylight supply”
  • Proof of compliance with the requirements of DIN 4108-2 for summer heat protection
  • Project-related invoices and proof of payment, list of eligible investment measures and costs.
