The Havelwelle Potsdam marina residence was built right next to the former city harbor. Here, architect Rüdiger Flender was able to develop and implement his vision of the Havelwelle: the building echoes the wave motion of the river and blends gently into existing and historic structures.

The wave-shaped floor plan accommodates a total of 102 residential units with around 11,500 square meters of living space. Almost all residents can enjoy an unobstructed view of the water from their apartments. To further emphasize the wave structure in the exterior appearance, folding sliding shutters from EHRET were used.

For the façade design, a striking steel structure with a sheet metal façade, 368 EHRET EFSL Nice folding sliding shutters were used. The violet blue of the shutters reflects the fascinating play of colors on the Havel River. With an average shading effect of around 50 percent of the balconies, the client’s requirements and wishes were fully met. In addition, the folding sliding shutters can be opened and closed without a large opening radius, making them particularly space-saving.
