Mack Solutions, Europa-Park’s in-house design office, is responsible for creating original, turnkey concepts for the park. EHRET was approached to design and tailor-make special folding shutters for the new 4-star Krønasår museum hotel.
The theme of the hotel is Norse mythology. The architecture and furnishings are inspired by Scandinavian style. It has 276 rooms and 28 suites, a sauna, a tea house, two restaurants, and two bars. In terms of shutters, the task required a custom design.
A total of 115 shutters were designed and manufactured. What makes them special is that they are completely non-functional and serve only to enhance the aesthetics and authenticity of the façade. So the aesthetic aspect was given considerable attention. The shapes, number of cutouts, and colors are custom-made and can be varied as desired to make each shutter unique. Due to the size of the wings, shutters with larger slats, special grooves, hinges, and retaining devices were developed. Some shutters were designed with an arched shape.
