Built in the middle of a former barracks complex in the Schwerin Lake District landscape conservation area, the newly constructed laboratory and administration building of the Criminal Investigation Department deliberately breaks with the rigid barracks structure with its free-form design.

The new building is a fascinating sight, not least thanks to its striking sun protection: the green sliding elements emphasize the design of the façade in an exceptionally appealing way. It is not without reason that the project was awarded the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Building Prize in 2006.

In order to meet the high requirements, the decision was made to use electrically operated EHRET sliding elements of the PL-LO model. A total of 137 aluminum sliding shutter panels were installed, with custom-made curved running rails, guide rails, and special roller guides to perfectly match the radius of the facade. The sliding shutters not only ensure optimal heat transfer into the building, but also impress with their modern design, varied color scheme, and atmospheric lighting effects.
